FAQ & less frequently asked questions
What is there to do nearby?
Hunebeds (dolmens), duh. Looking for a bit more action? Borger is a lively village with its own Tourist Information Point. If they try to hand you yet another hunebed route, don’t worry: Slaaphuisje Chutzpah has its own map. Use it via Google Maps for a variety of Chutzpah-worthy tips, from ' Groningen eierballen' and other delicious treats to the best thrift shops.
Bikes can be rented just down the street at Egberts Fietsen.
If nature and provincial calm aren’t enough for you, take bus line 300 and you’ll reach the center of one of the Netherlands’ most fun cities (Groningen) in under half an hour. The bus runs late into the evening, so dinner out is definitely possible.
Summer or winter? That's the question!
Drenthe is not called the “original province” for nothing; nature has a big influence on your stay here, and we embrace that.
In summer, there’s a swimming pool in our vegetable garden. This area isn’t private, so feel free to use it. Snacks are provided, and sometimes the pizza oven is fired up - you’re welcome to join in. The village is lively enough if you prefer to make your own plans. Air conditioning is available.
In winter, the pool is replaced by a terrace with a fire pit. We’re happy to discuss your plans: a winter walk followed by a soak in the hot tub, a movie, and a meal? In winter, there’s also the option for a table d’hôtes experience.
How many people can stay?
For safety on the property and to protect the delicate artwork inside, Slaaphuisje Chutzpah is designed for a maximum of two adults, no pets. Babies up to 1 year old are welcome, but please note that the cabin isn’t equipped for them. One parent/guardian with a child aged 10 or older is also welcome.

Can I bring my pet?
Slaaphuisje Chutzpah is filled with delicate art and design, some of it low to the ground. We also have a reactive dog and an elderly dog, both of whom deserve some peace in their home after eventful lives. For these reasons, pets cannot be accommodated.
How is the pantry equipped?
Sleep Cabin Chutzpah is an eccentric outdoor hotel room, not a self-catering apartment.
The pantry is equipped as follows:
- Capsule machine with organic coffee and oat milk pods.
- Kettle with a variety of organic tea flavors.
- Microwave with DIY popcorn.
- Refrigerator stocked with drinks and snacks
- Various dishes and glassware that you absolutely don't have to wash yourself - you can just leave them with us
Can I also book one night?
The minimum stay is two nights. (Staying longer is always possible, with a discount!) This helps keep the cost per night as low as possible while still offering high quality and taking responsibility for the planet. We also choose not to make prices fluctuate between high and low season, because teachers often end up paying the price (and we love teachers.) To truly relax and experience Drenthe, two nights is just right. Plus, it means less laundry and waste for us.
Can I charge my e-bike?
Yes, there is a socket outside where you can charge an electric bicycle.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is before 12:00 PM.
Arriving in the village early or want to drop off your belongings? By arrangement, we can sometimes make Slaaphuisje Chutzpah available earlier; or you can enjoy a drink in the garden while you wait.
Accessibility
Slaaphuisje Chutzpah is accessible by car. Parking is available on the property, right next to the entrance. The cabin is securely enclosed by a lightweight garden gate, and motion-sensor lights are installed around the house.
The cabin is on one level, but there is a small threshold at the front door. The passage alongside the bed is not wide enough for a wheelchair, but crutches can fit. The bathroom is not equipped with grab bars.
The garden is easy to walk through, with low fences, and consists mostly of grass. During your stay, you can always stay in touch with us via WhatsApp.
What are the cancellation terms?
The full cancellation policy can be found in our general terms and conditions under Article 5. In short: free cancellation up to four weeks before your visit.
Is long-stay possible?
That depends a bit on what you consider “long.” But if, for example, you’re looking for an inspiring and peaceful spot to finish writing your book during the low season, we can definitely work something out.
I'm a photographer/content creator, can we collaborate?
We love collaborating with content creators whose audience matches our target guests. Does your following include mainly people 30+ with a strong interest in nature, tourism, sustainability, and/or art? Great! Come stay with us!
Beautiful photos of Slaaphuisje Chutzpah are always welcome. Would you like to exchange a set of great photos for a stay? We’re definitely open to that!
Of course, a barter deal initially costs us income, as the cabin cannot be rented to others for those night(s). Each quarter, we have a limited number of nights available for content creators, so we like to know in advance what to expect. Send us a message on Instagram (@slaaphuisjechutzpah) from your creator account with your content plans.
